CO-Camping # DTML

DOWN THE MEMORY LANE

There was so much fun and as a prize, I got a broken pair of glasses! Hurrah - now I'm literally, officially, partially blind! Damn ~ Moral of the camping? DO NOT, NEVER EVER asks a person who wears glasses with a high degree like mine to go to camp, especially if that person is as clumsy as moi ~

CO-Camping # Part 2

Monday, 2 March 2009
27th February 2009

Slept at 4.00 a.m. Phoenix was assigned for sentry this morning with another group (I forgot the name, sorry guys). Ours was the 4.30 - 5.30 a.m. shift. Imagine that I slept for only half an hour! That would never happen if I was at home...

The day started with their morning prayer around 6.30 a.m. Then we had to line up for a quick march. Hmm. Booooring ~ I don't like marching. Breakfast was served after that and I must say, I got a special treatment. Now the whole camp knows I can't and won't eat spicy stuffs. Boohoohoo. So they had to leave out a few fried chicken pieces for me. Thank you all!

Now...where was I?

Oh, right...jungle trekking! This was the fun part. Seriously, it was.

From left: (1) I forgot what we were punished for. Here two members have to be on each side of the net. One of the pairs will try to pass 'injured' members to the other side. In this case, I decided that Melissa and I should do the passing because she's tall and I'm a bit heavier than the other girls. (2) Now watch this...

Oops! Hahaha ~ I slipped off the third pole and hit my gum on the cement...OUCH! Embarrassing? Nah! Painful? Yup...I had a bleeding gum thanks to the fall, although I didn't tell Phoenix that...

This, my friends, is what we call 'walking the munkee walk'! Bluff. That girl in the photo is Ka Su :D she's very capable of doing everything during jungle trekking. Hehe.

Ooh but there's more to the day...like getting ourselves muddy! Be proud of me 'cause I dare to step into the swamps (eeew!).

Hehe that's Fizi with me :) I am only 152cm tall so when my feet couldn't reach any bottom of the swamp, I panicked for a few seconds. Anysz was laughing at this moment because I wailed out his name ~ ba, biasalah, if Jef was there, I'd wailed out his. Hehe. You know what I mean...the other guys are too manly for me to ask for help from ~ Thanks ya Fizi! Then again, the swamp wasn't that deep. Silly me!

Note that as soon as each of us would come out from the swamp, we'll get our faces 'muddified'.

It was a short outing. We were supposed to go for 'Water Confident' this evening but it rained heavily + thunderstorm + flashing lightning so only one group had the opportunity to get wet in the lake. Tonight too, we had 'Malam Kebudayaan'...what Phoenix performed, I have no idea! All I know was that we did the 60's dance of some sort...our group came out as the best, which was kinda' unexpected. We had a little misunderstanding with our coach so we were feeling a bit down...

I must say, throughout the camping trip, I've learnt a few things.

CO-Camping # Part 1

Sunday, 1 March 2009
That's right, C.A.M.P.I.N.G.

I'm sure my family were laughing their heads off when they heard I'm going camping...who would have thought that Urod @ Yot would actually camp outside. Hah! Yeah ~ I surprised myself too. Me? Going camping? Hahaha ~ bummer.

It's not like I have any options. If I did, you really think I'd go for it? Duh ~ I had to if I want to get a good grade for my co-curriculum this semester. I've no damn intention to repeat it!

26th February 2009

Skipped IDA102 today. Waited for the bus at the KOOP...sent a few messages to G. He's been to Malacca once and it so happened he did jog around Hutan Rekreasi Ayer Keroh. It kinda' brings back the memories ~ okay, enough of that! We're talking camping here.

Anyways, when we arrived we were greeted with a cool, refreshing drink. Ah, it felt like ages since I've drink something that cold ~ you guys know how I love cold stuffs...despite the fact that it's unhealthy.

Knowing we were to be divided into groups, I (foolishly) prayed I'll be teamed up with Polan and Fir. I don't know why but I prayed and well, I guess Heaven loves me. It happened. And then Polan asked me if I could switch with one of their friends who just so happens to be in the same group my level mates were in.

I refused. Three reasons.

1. The coaches might get angry.
2. It's uncomfortable.
3. I've to gain experience, mix with others.

And poof! Voila! Everything changes there and then - no further elaboration - period.

Well...the only thing we did today was walking in the so-called jungle near midnight, blindfolded. It doesn't make any difference since they took off my glasses. I'm literally blind haha lolx. It was really fun though. You know that there's this rule that says you can't be too loud when you're walking among the trees, right? Or else the forest spirits might take a liking to you...hmm no one listened to that obviously.

One of the commanders who came with us was my senior roommate, Afida. I knew it was her who was poking my ear with a twig so there was a slip of tongue where I said I might slap her - oops! I don't mean it but it's really funny...I'm sure she was laughing. Come to think of it, she's been teasing me the whole time. Heh.

Oh! I almost forgot! Before we went night-walking, we had to design our group logo and decide on a motto:

If I'm not mistaken, I think it was FaliQ OM who drew the logo and iQah's hands were used for the hand prints...

Our logo was kinda' Indie - with a heart in the middle, a fire on top of it and angel wings. And then there were two muddy hand prints under the heart. This wacky group, ladies and gents was named Phoenix (supposedly meaning that we dare to 'die' and rise again). Well, I can see that in our members :D I'm just happy that there are other DMC1Es in our group: Danial, Polan and Fir. Anysz and Fizi were the PBSM members who tagged along with us tomorrow's activities.
